Somerset Maugham was asked whether he wrote on a schedule
or when he was inspired. He replied, “I write when I am inspired.
Fortunately inspiration strikes every morning at 9 a.m. sharp.”
Stephen King in his book, “On Writing” also talks about
going into his office, closing the door at a specific time and writing
daily.
We work with writers to help create a writing plan that gives them
the writing discipline (3.28) they need. This involves a variety
of aspects: selecting the time each day that the person will devote
to writing; deciding on the amount of hours to spend; and creating
personal writing deadlines and schedules.
People often come to us for book writing help because they need
the discipline
to get that book finished. We work them to create that plan, so
that before they know it, they are completing their first
draft.
Two of our fastest-writing authors really worked their plan. Mamta
Gautam, author of Irondoc
and Craig Nathanson author of P
is for Perfect both wrote their books in less than a month.
With a good plan, perhaps you can to.
