Write That Book: Get it Clear, Get it Down,
Get it Out by Serena Williamson, PhD
Price $15.00 >>
Getting
Practical
Making it Real
You may be wondering why we have not covered this information earlier
in the book. If you are a practical person and proactive reader,
perhaps you are reading this chapter first. The reason we wait so
long to get practical is that this section engages the left side
of your brain, the logical, mathematical side. Previously, we have
been stimulating the right side, the creative one. In my experience,
often what keeps people from writing is the worry about getting
it right—having the right computer, having the right office
space, having the right idea, having the right amount of time, having
the right amount of peace and quiet…etc., etc., etc. That
is why, in the earlier chapters, all we are concerned with is stopping
whatever you are doing that is getting in your way and just getting
you writing.
Once you have some material behind you, some information down on
paper, perhaps twenty or thirty pages, it is time to get serious.
Now you know that this project might even become a real book. So
let’s make it look like one. The idea of setting your book
up in this way and the guidelines for it are gleaned, again from
Dan Poynter’s Writing Nonfiction.
