What is your role in the world? Have you thought about this before? There are many different roles that each of us could choose to play. Yes, some roles might take a little education, time or patience but that does not mean they are impossible.

Let me tell you a little story. Several years ago, I had the role of the high tech corporate manager. My life was filled with long, useless meetings, boring challenges and little meaning. For others this may have been fine but I knew something was lacking. I did, however, notice that many other employees around me seemed to feel similarly. Although they didn’t come out and say it in so many words, their indirect daily comments left no doubt. It came out in different ways. Conversations at lunch rarely focused on work. They focused on the past weekend, the upcoming weekend, the office rumors and whether they would ever have enough stock to leave for good. I decided there was a need to help and frankly, I was itching to try out some thoughts and ideas I had at the time. I was an early aspiring PhD student and spent much time pondering ideas about human behavioral possibilities.
