I saw a license plate as I was driving to a local café to write this chapter. It read,“Don’t follow me, I’m lost too.” Many people want to discover and experience their perfect vocational day. It certainly sounds like an intriguing idea. Most reflect and probably think to themselves, maybe this is something I should look into when I retire, or when I’m older or when I am financially well off or when the kids go to college. At the end of the day, many people are lost as to where to start.

I believe that many people ultimately find their vocational passion, which in many cases might be the opposite experience to what they had as a child. For example, I grew up seeing my mom drag herself home from work each day and always complain about her job. This is all I ever heard. In fact, I used to say to her, “Mom, why don’t you get a job you like?” She would always respond, “Oh Craig, you just don’t understand. I can’t do that as long as I have you to support.” At the time I just accepted this at face value. I do remember thinking to myself, What did supporting me have to do with her being happy at work? Over 40 years later, I now realize that......
