Round Number Two
By the second year of treatment, I was working for the Hahnemann College for Heilkunst, HCH, as their Registrar. I also began to embark on my own studies to become a Physician. I remember it was the Monday after the 2001 conference of National United Professionals Association of Trained Homeopaths Canadian in Toronto. I was completely exhausted. Over the last 15 days, I’d either worked or been in class. As I backed the van up across the lawn to the front door of the Hahnemann College, I thought about how I was just going to do what I could today to get the conference materials put away and some of the financial fall out from the conference taken care of. I was dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt and my hair was still damp from the shower. This was going to be my day just to putter with the necessities.
Jordan was in the back of the van and I asked him to help me with some of the smaller boxes before I dropped him off at school. He said, “no thanks” and continued to play with his computer game. I felt raw and numb as I dragged the boxes out of the back and lugged them over the threshold into the main classroom to the cupboards beyond. I had also fasted since midnight as I was scheduled for my live blood analysis follow-up in half an hour, the emptiness in my belly chiding me to fill it with rest and food which is not what I had planned for the day.
With Jordan delivered to school, I headed back to work and the HCH Clinic for my appointment. I kept reminding myself that I had arranged to take this coming Friday off. It would be the first day entirely devoted to me in almost three months. I had visions of a hot bath and a delicious book other than The Dynamic Legacy: From Homeopathy to Heilkunst!
