The Path to Cure: The Whole Art of Healing

Bad
Boy Behavior
At the age of three, Jordan’s chief problems were chronic
constipation and very profound behavioral issues. Often he would
not pass stool for a week or more. This was alarming enough on its
own, but the toxicity stored in his body produced conduct resembling
what traditional medicine was calling ADHD, or Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder. He could not focus for a minute on any one
activity. There was a violent side to him too, he would often haul
off and slap me across the face or punch me in the stomach without
a moment’s notice and with a vindictiveness that astounded
me. Waking from afternoon naps, he would often scream for two hours
solid while rocking and banging his head against the wall of his
bedroom.
If I reached to console him, he would flail his arms attacking
me, so I ran around the house like a crazed firefighter searching
for a cure. I would try to get him to sniff an open jar of coffee
or I would try to pop a homeopathic pellet of Chamomilla into his
mouth in an effort to calm him. I usually ended up with coffee grounds
all through the carpet. Now that I think about it, smelling the
coffee would have been an attempt to match his emotional state of
mind homeopathically. Like might have cured like if the dose was
the simillimum and energetically strong enough!
However, Jordan wasn’t having anything to do with any principled
approach and these bouts of anger were becoming more eruptive. I
felt I was always on heightened alert to diffuse potential barriers
or triggers that would set off an exaggerated response. If I missed
the opportunity, the screaming and flailing could last for hours.
I was failing miserably at predicting the future and becoming a
hopelessly neurotic firefighter.
