Your Investment Plan With Your Life
Plan
Money and Life Work Together
So far this book has focused almost exclusively on investment
management commentary and investing guidelines. In the last chapter
we introduced the concept of planning tools and their importance
to you in terms of bringing all the pieces together, so that the
key principles work for you. We discussed the importance of the
Investment Policy Statement and how this written document can be
instrumental in helping your investment plan stay on track.
Just as valuable is a Personal Financial Plan. A Financial Plan
and an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) are not the same, although
both can be considered planning tools to help you and your family
stay on track.
An IPS focuses exclusively on your investment and portfolio planning,
whereas a Financial Plan focuses on you as an individual—bringing
together all your financial and life goals into one planning exercise.
